[ Parts & Labour ] ( Identity / Packaging System )
Bold and collaborative identity for Parts & Labour, a creative studio with roots in Los Angeles, New York, and Toronto that brings together producers and directors under one roof. The brand centers around an equal visual emphasis on both the studio’s wordmark and the names of its collaborators — a gesture that reinforces the studio’s role as a connector and celebrates creative partnership.
To reflect the industrial character embedded in the name Parts & Labour and draw from the visual language of 1930s American posters, we employed a typographic system built on two contrasting grotesque typefaces. This deliberate tension creates a sense of structure and dynamism throughout the layouts. A supporting script font was later introduced, adding a layer of personality and reinforcing the brand’s conceptual foundation. The color palette — soft and understated — counterbalances the assertive typographic forms, creating a nuanced tension between strength and subtlety. The result is a flexible and distinctive identity that embodies the dual nature of the studio’s work: production and direction, mechanics and artistry, parts and labour.
